About Me

My name is Kelly.  I am a wife and a mom to two beautiful girls.  I love to read, cook, bake, try new recipes, find great deals, and curl up with a good book and a great cup of coffee! I am also a Type 1 diabetic.

My journey with diabetes began 32 years ago when I was 12 years old.  That was 1988, and a lot has changed since then.  I can still see the box of cookies my grandmother used to buy for me after my diagnosis.  They were called Frookies (fructose cookies), and they tasted like the box they came in.  That was how things were back then.  There weren’t the aisles of choices there are today.  There wasn’t Google to ask where can I find a recipe for sugar-free cookies.  There wasn’t even a clear understanding that diabetes is not all about sugar.

My goal for this site is to share my experiences and knowledge to hopefully help those who are going through some of the things I’ve been through.  Whether you are newly diagnosed, a parent who has a child with Type 1 diabetes, or just someone who needs another diabetic’s perspective, I hope to help!

I am happy to answer any questions you may have about nutrition, insulin pumps, a new diagnosis, CGM’s, just about anything to do with Type 1 diabetes.  I will do my best to get back to you within 48 hours.

If there is a topic on which you would like to see a blog, please send your topic through the contact page, and I will do my best to get it out.  Thank you for your interest!
